What Really Is Beauty?

Beauty is a multidimensional idea. It extends beyond physical attractiveness.

According to Dr John Amodeo he said that according to one survey, Americans spend an average of $722 on their beauty each year.

One out of every 10 Americans has attempted to impersonate a celebrity. Our society places a high value on physical appearance. Rules and preferences about how we should look are all around us, and they do us a huge disservice.

So, what is your definition of beauty? Fair complexion, lustrous hair, a great figure , or confidence, good health, and a desire to be a good human being?

I say beauty comes from within - you are beauty and beauty is you. You are a masterpiece - a work of art. There is only one you, made up of your genes and life experiences. And there will never be another.

I grew up as a child hearing that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." I believe we all have heard this saying . In that case, because most beholders choose to limit beauty to physical appearance, I wonder if beauty is truly skin deep! Which l believe it is!

It is claimed that your face reflects your emotions. There have been moments when I have felt sad, upset, and hurt, and no matter how much makeup I used, the thin lines of grief and worry were always there when I glanced in the mirror. These are the moments when I haven’t felt beautiful, despite the fact that the face powders have given me the perfect shade of fairness, the mascara has given me the best eyelashes to envy, and the brilliant red lipstick has given my lips the perfect set anybody could dream for, but I still don’t feel beautiful.

I stopped and started reflecting on myself realizing that outer beauty can be a curse as much as a blessing. We may develop a habit of being so focused on preserving a flawless appearance that we fail to nurture the inner traits required to preserve and enhance closeness and connection with those around us.

What exactly is beauty? According to me beauty isn’t what we see in the mirror, it’s not what we can buy in creams and gels for a few dollars, and it’s not what the world’s most famous fashion designers tell us to wear. Beauty is the sensation you have deep within you, regardless of whether you are 'fair' or 'dark,' whether you wear makeup or not, whether you are obese or slender!

Instead, beauty is the pride and confidence that you exude. It's the sensation you receive when you help others and they, in turn, offer you the brightest smile possible as you assist them in resolving their problems!

In all this fight and struggle to be perfect , we may fail to attend to ourselves in a way that would move us toward deeper intimacy, fulfillment, and meaning.

To me beauty comes from within, it’s not the hairstyle, the wardrobe or makeup. It’s being confident in the person you are today no matter what shape, size color e.t.c. Always being the best person you can be.

A beautiful personality brings out a beautiful heart

The key to building inner beauty is actually quite simple: we simply need to be ourselves. But what is simple is not always easy. Not everyone will notice and appreciate us when we take the courageous risk of being present and allowing ourselves to be seen as we truly are. But if they don’t, it’s their loss, not ours. We’ll eventually find compatible souls who appreciate us as we are—and, more importantly, appreciate ourselves for the beautiful person we are if we keep refreshing our sense of presence and openness to others.

In my final words:

I believe that real beauty is acceptance of yourself, perceived flaws and all and to realise that they are a part of what makes you, you. It’s a radiance of spirit, having character, kindness to ourselves and to others, it’s strength and self-confidence to know that with or without makeup the real beauty is you.

Stay blessed 🌸
