When you have a crush on someone or are in love with someone, it may appear to be the same thing, but it couldn’t be more different.

It’s critical that you understand what’s going on because having a crush on someone is a short-term feeling based on physical appearance and infatuation, whereas being in love with someone is a long-lasting, natural, and deep connection with someone. It’s critical that you understand the distinction between a crush and love so that you can proceed in the most beneficial way for you.

So, are you unsure whether you have a crush on someone or if you’re falling in love with them?

If so, look no further! I did my research and found the shockingly amazing differences between the two. So in this article here you will get all the help you need in finding out if you’ve got a crush, or you’re in love by looking at the differences of each.

Lets dive right in.

  1. A crush is an instant feeling, love takes time to blossom
If you feel romantically interested in someone the moment you see them, sometimes even before you interact with them, it’s most likely a crush because it’s an instant feeling of infatuation, but you might think it’s love at first sight. Although love at first sight is possible, true love takes time to develop and blossom between two people.

2. A crush is primarily about physical characteristics, whereas love is about a person’s soul.

When you have a crush on someone, you are drawn to them primarily because of their physical characteristics and sex appeal, whereas when you fall in love with someone, you fall in love with them as a person and their physical appearance is much less important.

3. A crush consumes your thoughts, whereas love is a part of your thoughts.
When you have a crush, you become infatuated with them, which means you become almost obsessed with them and think about them all the time. When you’re in love with someone, they don’t consume your thoughts; instead, they become a part of them.

4. Do you place the object of your affection/crush on a pedestal?

Another important factor in determining whether you have a crush or are in love (and vice versa) is whether you are putting the person on a pedestal. Is he or she ideal in your opinion? Do you find yourself describing him or her with superlative adjectives? When you have a crush on someone, they often appear to be flawless and the absolute gold standard in relationships.

You don’t think in those terms when you love someone. You love the person for who he or she is, flaws and all. It’s about feeling emotionally safe and connected rather than about looking good.

5. A crush lasts weeks or months only, love lasts longer.
Crushes typically last only a few weeks, with the infatuation leaving you as quickly as it arrived. However, love, even if it does not last forever, lasts much longer than a purely physical connection.

6. You are on edge with your crush, but at ease with your love.
You’re not showing your true colors around a crush, so you’re constantly on edge, but with love, it’s as if you’ve returned home and you’re completely at ease.

7. A crush is a superficial connection, whereas love is a deep connection.
A significant difference between a crush and love is that a crush is based on physical attraction and idealization, so it is only on the surface and never truly lights up your soul. However, when you love someone, you develop a deep connection with them that you will never have with another person.

8. You change for your crush, but when you’re in love, you’re completely yourself.
You desperately want to impress your crush, so you act like a completely different person around them, but when you’re in love, you can just be yourself 100% and be confident that you’re displaying your true self.

9. A crush exhausts you, whereas love replenishes you.
Although you may believe that having a crush on someone is all fun and games, it is often very mentally draining because you are so in love with someone that you can’t focus on anything else and it drains all of your energy. Love, on the other hand, strengthens you, gives you energy, and helps you in all aspects of your life.

10.A crush makes you jealous, but love makes you feel at ease.
You can easily become jealous if you are not exclusive with your crush or if you do not have any kind of relationship with them. When you’re in love with someone, you talk about the exclusivity of the relationship and feel comfortable knowing the ground rules.

Take Out
Hopefully, after reading this article, you understand the distinctions between having a crush and falling in love with someone. Remember that love feels natural and is about connecting with someone on a deep and meaningful level, whereas a crush is only on the surface and is based on physical attraction.
